Women of Worth
Endowment Fund
In 1999, Janet Shipton, the first Woman of Worth, launched the OWL Endowment Fund as a Woman of Worth (WOW) Alumnae project with a generous contribution. The Endowment Fund Campaign was proudly announced at the 1999 Women of Worth dinner in October. Eli Lilly Company and Southwestern Bell became Charter donors that evening with unexpected, unsolicited donations. During the next six months, Women of Worth Alumnae and OWL members became Charter Donors and the fund grew to over $5000. Today the fund continues to grow through tributes and memorials, a wonderful way to honor a friend while assuring the ongoing activities of Gateway OWL.
