OWL's real value to women is monitoring national and state legislation that affects mid-life and older women. OWL's "watchdog" approach benefits all women, their mothers and daughters. OWL members testify and inform elected officials and the public about health care availability, prescription drug benefits, equitable housing, campaign finance reform, Social Security and Medicare preservation and pension equity. Gateway OWL has successfully sponsored or supported legislation on COBRA Wrap Around, Family Courts, Anti-Stalking, Agency Guardianship, Mammogram Regulations, Elderly Health & Nutrition Bill, breast cancer insurance, managed-care reform and osteoporosis education legislation.
