Portraits of Courageous Women

Portraits of Courageous Women are monologues performed by costumed members of Gateway Chapter of OWL. The monologues keep alive the spirit of these activists who blazed trails to bring about major social changes to benefit women and society. They will remind the audience of their struggles.
Most monologues run 10 to 13 minutes. Usually three monologues are performed at a venue. Programs can be customized to fill your time frame and interests. The programs can be designed for children or adult audiences. The fee is determined by the size of the audience.
Monologues of courageous women available for programs:
- Bella Abzug – Congresswoman, founder of Women’s Political Causus
- Susan B. Anthony – advocate for right to vote and feminist
- Amelia Earhart – pioneer aviatrix
- Grace Hopper- Computer pioneer
- Mother Jones - first female labor organizer
- Rosa Parks – started the civil rights movement by her actions
- Eleanor Roosevelt – first lady, representative to the United Nations
- Harriet Beecher Stowe – author and abolitionist
- Sojourner Truth – abolitionist and feminist
- Harriet Tubman – former slave and abolitionist
Each monologue incorporates the character’s “herstory” into a personalized message.
